NEXT WEEK'S HEADLINES (AND THE WEEK AFTER THAT)
How to be in the know...
You can find most of what you'll want to know about the unfolding story of Advent St. Peter's 2016 in CORNERSTONE, the parish magazine...
And hopefully, you'll have received or taken a parish Christmas Card, which will tell you about the major church services over Advent and Christmas...
But here are some of the less routine events that you won't want to miss...
Saturday 3rd December: 12.00: ADVENT SOUP: a warming soup and nourishing bread lunch with the chance to vote for your favourite charity from a shortlist of three. Find us in the church hall.
Sunday 4th December 18.00: CANDLELIT ADVENT SERVICE. You can always watch Country File by time-shifting your telly, but there are no I-Player repeats for our candles and music. Be in church for one of the special moments of the year.
Prayer Space: Each week a different focus for our thoughts as the church is open most mornings after the 9.00 a.m. Morning Prayer. Take a little time for yourself, make friends with God, and then deal with what you have to do more calmly and efficiently. Just keep an eye on the blog which will tell you when other events take precedence in church, as they sometimes will.
Morning Music: Saturday 10th December: in church. Pop your cards into the Scout Hut, and come on over to the church, chat to your friends, listen to some great music and maybe have a cup/glass of something warming. Artists TBC (but they'll be worth hearing!) Watch the blog for details.
Prince of Wales Rattlers: Between the services: Sunday 11th December. A little Advent present from Harry, Graham, Woody and Clive after the 10.00 a.m. service or before the 11.15.
Alison Roddy and friends. Come and hear Alison's pupils (some of them may be familiar faces!) as they give a short concert 14.30 Wednesday December 14th. In church.
Thursday December 15th 19.45 approx: Carols at the BOLD. Drop into one of our locals (the Bold Dragoon) and sing along lustily with Bill Kingston and friends over a pint of whatever does you good.
Saturday December 17th: 10.00 a.m. Sue and David Kirby and their team are gluttons for punishment! Open House in the church hall. Activities, mince pies and more.
Monday December 19th n.b. 17.30: Carol singing round the parish. Meet at the church, or if you're late, follow the sound of our voices...
Wednesday December 21st NEW! In church: a service for the longest night of the year: Blue Christmas. For all who may be feeling a little sad at this time of the year, and those who wish to support them.
